Ducks Unlimited Canada, Canada’s most trusted and respected wetland conservation organization, is looking for a detailed, analytical and dedicated professional to join our team. You are an effective communicator who is as comfortable presenting to others as you are gathering, identifying and integrating spatial data. You are self-motivated, enjoy a complex, changing environment and can manage numerous projects on tight deadlines. You will design and implement projects while participating in teams providing GIS support, modeling and decision support and spatial analysis. At Ducks, we’re going places. You need to be an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work cross-functionally, is innovative, interested in conservation and is capable of seeing the greater conservation picture.

Job Qualifications

Your three years of experience and knowledge of geographic and cartographic principles make you the ideal candidate for this position, which is located in Edmonton, Alberta. You possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. You have demonstrated expertise in creating maps, graphics, and image processing. Your strong time management skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting is an asset. Requirements: - A degree or diploma in GIS, geography or related environmental science. - Solid understanding and experience using ESRI ArcGIS. - Strong data management skills. - Working knowledge of biophysical habitat inventories. - Experience with eCognition, ERDAS, Adobe Illustrator, MS Access would be assets as would experience with landscape ecology or wetland ecosystems.

Other Information

As a member of the Western Boreal Program (WBP) team you will provide GIS technical expertise and leadership to internal clients while collaborating with external partners to meet user needs and implement GIS project components. You will also collaborate with other regional and national GIS team members on projects requiring specific expertise. In Canada, we lose 80 acres of wetlands every day and we need your help to stop this loss.
