Job Description

The Geospatial Data Analyst is responsible for managing corporate geospatial datasets, ensuring data quality and accessibility. In addition to providing GIS technology services and support to County departments, staff, citizens and businesses, this position is also responsible for providing leadership and guidance in an effort to increase GIS fluency and the use of geospatial technology within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • build and maintain a program for the County’s Corporate Geospatial Datasets that will ensure quality, currency, reliability, and accessibility
  • design and develop GDB data models that meet the County’s requirements
  • successfully implement Geospatial Data Projects
  • ensure County department users are well supported and productive in their use ofCountyGeospatialtechnology
  • identify new services or service improvements that better respond to the evolving needs of the business
  • support the mission of the GIS team by providing leadership and maintaining high level technical knowledge

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

  • a minimum of five years of related experience in GIS
  • a university degree in GIS or Geography or a related two-year diploma in GIS
  • proficiency with ESRI GIS Suite of tools, ESRI Geodatabase data format, ArcGIS data models, FME, MS SQL Server, MS Office Productivity tools, MS Project, MS Visio
  • extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of GIS, spatial analysis and cartography; exposure to Web Development tools such as Cold Fusion is an asset
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong presentation skills
  • project management training or experience, GISP Certification or ESRI Certification are assets
