Job Description
WFP is currently seeking a GIS Analyst to join our Mainland Coast Operation (MCO), located approximately 15 minutes north of Campbell River. This position may also be required to support GIS duties and responsibilities for the Port Alberni Forest Operation, located in Port Alberni, BC.
The GIS Analyst is responsible for planning, organizing, executing and evaluating all aspects of timber harvesting, restoration, silviculture and reforestation on the crown and private lands in which it operates. WFP practices sustainable forestry management that is environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable. GIS analysis provides critical support for Timberlands information needs and decision making.
The Geomatics Analyst supports operational and corporate planning initiatives by managing and analyzing spatial information to provide high-quality maps and reports. At operations, this position works with Information Systems to implement technical solutions for meeting operational needs
Job Qualifications
The incumbent must possess advanced skills in geomatics (including editing, mapping, geo-processing, querying and reporting), proficiency with ArcGIS, Genus, Toad, Crystal Reports, GPS, World Construction Set, Geo Express, Feature Manipulation Engine, Microstation, and database languages (SQL & Python) and demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and project management skills. Communication skills and a demonstrated focus on customer service are essential. A general awareness of the forestry industry and eligibility for professional designation are preferred.
Specific accountabilities may include:
- Geospatial data capture, import & conversion

- Produce & maintain operation Maps and planning initiatives

- Forestry Systems data editing, queries, mapping and analysis
