Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced GIS Spatial Analyst to work in Hemmera’s Vancouver office. The suitable candidate will have training and experience that goes beyond the basic understanding of ArcGIS tools or similar to enter and display information of a spatial nature. In particular, we are looking of candidates who have direct experience with more advanced tools and approaches for geostatistical analysis/spatial co-variation analysis, decision analysis, or similar frameworks for advanced problem solving, carried out in a consulting context. The successful candidate should be strongly client focused, and possess excellent interpersonal skills as they will be working with clients and staff at all levels within our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a key team member to pursue, manage, and execute environmentally-focused problem solving opportunities
  • Co-lead spatially oriented information management (IM) functions for larger projects
    • Input, model, and statistically analyze environmental data using in ArcGIS
    • Creation and management of processes to manage spatial data GIS based datasets.
    • Identify opportunities and constraints related to data management
    • Assist with the development and management of geospatial data
    • Perform detailed empirical and spatial interpolation modeling and statistical analysis
    • Liaise with partners and vendors to ensure successful integration of content and/or systems.
    • Generate composite/compiled maps displaying planned activities using various geospatial datasets. 
    • Deliver high levels of quality with respect to work and service to clients (internal and external)
    • Provide data mining and organization services

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, or a related discipline, postgraduate degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience with geospatial technology (e.g., GIS / Remote Sensing)
  • Experience in geo-database design, administration, programming and scripting writing
  • Database and GIS system technical support, development and programming
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of GIS, statistical analysis and cartography
  • Background in environmental and/or infrastructure projects a strong asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills and the ability to multi-task and take initiative.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Geospatial modeling experience is required
  • Experience and / or formal education with ESRI / ArcGIS systems
  • Willingness to work with all levels of employees on various projects of differing complexity
