Job Description

With over 450 employees in 16 offices across Canada, Altus Geomatics provides integrated Field Surveys, Mapping, Remote Sensing (LiDAR/3D Laser Scanning), and GIS (Data Solutions and Systems) services to the energy, forestry and construction industries in Western Canada.

Altus requires an innovative, self-starting, team-oriented individual to join our GIS team. This full-time position is based in our Calgary office. This position will include but not be limited to; maintain and enhance our web-based GIS, including upgrades and trouble-shooting. This position will be responsible for PostgreSQL database administration including writing database functions. You must effectively communicate with the IT team.

Job Qualifications

  • Database management experience in either PostgreSQL with PostGIS or MS SQL
  • Clear understanding of GIS Data ETL (Extract Transfer and Load)  and Spatial Reference Systems is required
  • Proficient skills with web-based programming using  .NET compliant languages and Internet Information Server and scripting with Python
  • Proficient  with  Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server (AIMS) or Mapguide Open Source
  • Knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS for Desktop  is essential
  • Demonstrated experience with application development from initial planning stages to completion
  • Experience with computer networking and other IT interfaces is an asset
  • Understanding of and experience with survey or land related systems
  • 3-5 years of related database design, computer programming and development experience
  • Degree or diploma in GIS, computer science or similar field
