About the Opportunity: 

McElhanney's Vancouver region comprisesa highly experienced and dedicated geomaticsteam located in our Vancouver, Whistler, Surrey and Langley offices. This dynamic multi-division region is dedicated to broadening and diversifying operations.  

The Vancouver geomatics group has evolved over the last ~113 years to include both domestic and international work, lead the adoption of technology in our servicesand diversify our services, clientele and markets 

Leading one of the largest offices for one of the largest geomatics firms in Canada, you will lead a team of consulting professionals in an established market, while identifying promising new opportunities to develop. You will execute strategic objectives and meet Key Performance Indicators across McElhanney’s four cornerstones of People & Communities, Clients & Partners, Processes & Technology, and Financial Metrics. To accomplish this, you will be the leader in cultivating a positive work culture, have an unmatched drive for success, and be passionate about your role as a catalyst for excellence in the branch, in the region and in the company.  

You will be working closely with the Regional Vice President to establish strategic direction and be supported by multiple Division Managers to achieve operational excellence within the Branch. McElhanney’s network of over 30 branches will provide opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing as you strengthen the business. The successful candidate can rely on very capable and established operational and support teams in developing a strong, cohesive branch culture that incorporates and prioritizes our shared commitments to safety, project management excellence, and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Be Doing:  

  • Set strategic direction for the business units within the Branch and collaborate with other Branch Managers for regional and corporate strategy development.  

  • Lead and grow branch business volume over $16M with over 100 people and about 6 reporting division managers. 

  • Identify and pursue innovative business opportunities and broaden our company impactAssist with proposal writing, engage in industry and professional association events as a McElhanney ambassador. 

  • Grow your career and leadership capability through development, mentoring and engaging workCollaborate with colleagues across the Company doing great work with great clients 

  • Establish effective workforce plans, including monitoring and elevating staff potential & performance, recruiting new members, managing performance, and developing employees.   

  • Take care of your peopleGrow and advance the careers of multi-disciplinary team membersFoster an engaged workplace culture.  

  • Manage branch financials such as annual budgets, KPIs, quarterly forecasting, and accounting oversight (invoicing and collections) Lead branch operations such as workload management, safety, and quality management

What You’ll Bring: 

  • A professional accreditation in a technical field applicable to our business is preferred.  

  • 15+ years’ experience in consultinggeomatics with 5+ years of management experience of diverse, multi-disciplinary teams, including managing financial outcomes and team performance. 

  • Success in attracting, hiring, and training engaged teams within the Geomatics industry. 

  • A proven track record of business development and fostering long-term client relationships. 

  • Strong understanding of the Vancouver / British Columbia market.
