Job Description

The Coalition on the Niagara Escarpment (CONE) is seeking an experienced GIS Programmer with three to five years experience to work out of the office of the Niagara Escarpment Commission in Georgetown, Ontario. Applicants should hold a degree in Geography, Computer Science or related field or any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. The position primarily involves the technical development of a custom GIS application that integrates seamlessly with a relational database management systems using ArcObjects and Visual Basic for Applications within ArcGIS 9.1 and Microsoft Access environments. The successful applicant will also document, test and implement the custom GIS application as well as develop reporting tools that facilitate summary of geospatial and tabular data. Duties also include providing training and advice to users regarding the GIS application and the use of any specialized applications.

Job Qualifications

The successful applicant must be a proficient GIS programmer particularly with Microsoft’s Visual Basic for Applications and ESRI’s ArcObjects development tools. Thorough knowledge of database design, integration and database management experience is required. Graphical user interfaces design skills and the ability to produce technical documentation and reports are also required This role is suitable for an individual that works well with little supervision, and is flexible enough to work in a small team-based environment. You must be accurate, reliable, dedicated, and detail oriented.
