Job Description

Use your project co-ordination skills and superior grasp of leading-edge geospatial technology to set and implement the city’s direction for geospatial information warehousing. You will direct all systems analysis activities, including feasibility studies and new systems, methods and procedures development, oversee project schedules and budgets, and manage the implementation of extremely complex systems always with client needs taking first consideration. Your superior communication, and your conceptual and analytical skills will enable you to liaise with geospatial technology software vendors, provide guidance regarding policies, procedures, priorities and methods, analyse trends in the application development industry and evaluate software. Your team-building ability will foster equitable and productive working relationships.

Job Qualifications

You have a history of success in the design, development and implementation of leading-edge geospatial technology applications that access Unix-hosted geospatial datawarehouses based on ESRI and Oracle products. You have extensive and hands-on experience with Database Management Systems, administrative mechanisms and optimization and management techniques for implementations based on Oracle Spatial, and Oracle-ArcSDE. You have extensive experience with ESRI ArcGIS technologies including Geodatabase, ArcObjects and its Server technologies. Your significant experience with multi-tiered architectures of map-enabled, Web-based applications that use JSF, JSP, J2EE/EJB, XML, HTML, AXL, Java servlets and Java applets that are developed under WSAD is essential. As is your significant experience with some of the following languages: Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, Java, Unix shell script, Java script, VB, C, Python and Java or C API for ArcSDE. You have an in-depth understanding and experience with Service Oriented Architectures and their associated security mechanisms, including Web Services and both ESRI and OGC Map Services. Your past experience with source code control systems and software life cycle methodology will greatly contribute to your success in this function.
