Job Description

Stone Environmental is seeking an experienced individual with a background in agronomic and water resource sciences with solid skills in GIS spatial analysis, environmental modeling, and application programming. This person will work within a team of diverse, highly motivated scientists and GIS specialists.

General responsibilities will include:
-Technical and project leadership -Identifying and securing project opportunities -Familiarity and fluency with advanced scientific agronomic and water resource modeling concepts -Spatial and data analysis, computer modeling, statistics interpretation and presentation, and technical writing skills at an advanced level -Conducting and developing diverse GIS projects through the use of GIS and database software -All aspects of data creation, collection, and compilation -GIS application development

Specific responsibilities may include:
-Project management -Direct involvement in research projects -Computer modeling, report writing, and statistical analysis of data -Meeting with clients and representing Stone at association and regulatory meetings -Serving as study director for FIFRA-related projects

Job Qualifications


The following skills are REQUIRED to be considered for this position:
-Experience performing spatial analysis with national-level environmental datasets including: NLCD, STATSGO, SSURGO, and NHDplus -Agronomic and hydrologic modeling, using models such as SWAT, PRZM3.12, EXAMS, REMM, SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GLEAMS, RZWQM, LEACHP -GIS programming using ArcObjects in VB.NET or C# -Database design/programming with MS SQL Server and/or MS Access -Extensive knowledge of agronomic practices in the United States and Canada -Critical thinking and problem-solving ability -Excellent communication skills -Self-motivation and ability to focus on the tasks at hand

Experience and Education Required
-Master’s degree or higher in Agricultural Engineering, Water Resources, or related field -Minimum of eight years of project experience in GIS and modeling applications

The following skills are beneficial but are not required for this position:
-Experience with GIS Web application programing using ASP.NET and ESRI Web ADF -Experience with ArcGIS ModelBuilder and ArcPad -Experience with SAS and SPSS
